South Cove Residents to Enjoy Front Row Access to Dana Point’s New Public Park Celebrating Surf Culture
February 23, 2017
The city of Dana Point and Zephyr, the developer of “South Cove” – the premier barefoot community of 168 luxury condo residences – have broken ground on a new public park which will pay homage to the region’s vibrant surfing culture.
The Park, located just steps from beautiful Doheny State Beach and Dana Point Harbor, is the result of a partnership between Zephyr and the city of Dana Point and will feature art and installations that celebrate the history of the city.
“This park will add to the enduring appeal of Dana Point,” said Chris Beucler, chief operating officer at Zephyr. “South Cove residents will be able to walk out their door, and enjoy this incredible, cultural amenity that will be a destination for both Dana Point residents and visitors.”
The Park will feature two plazas. The west park plaza will highlight Dana Point’s surf culture and heritage through a series of 10 life-size sculptures by Bill Limebrook depicting surfing pioneers like Phil Edwards. And the Hobie Memorial Foundation is raising funds for a 30-foot bronze Hobie Cat Sailboat, a tribute to Hobie Alter who created and sold the first foam surfboards in Dana Point. The eastern park plaza will focus on California history, with interpretive signs and a detailed timeline chronicling the history of Highway 1, among other features.
Construction on the park and South Cove is moving full speed ahead, with presales on the community beginning this spring.
South Cove residents will enjoy a multitude of amenities – in addition to the park – including a resort-style swimming pool with cabanas and common areas throughout the community. And outdoor enthusiasts will have access to miles of walking/bike paths, plus ocean sports like surfing, paddle boarding, fishing and more.
Three models at South Cove will be available. The “Aliso” single-level living flats, “Trestles” multi-level townhomes, and “Strands” multi-level twin homes will range from one to three bedrooms with 883 to 2,341 square feet. All residences will have attached garages and top notch interior finishes and accents, with select homes featuring indoor/outdoor floorplans, balconies, porches, rooftop decks, idea spaces and options for beach rinses, dens and more. Ten residences will feature live/work space fronting Pacific Coast Highway.
